Farm Management at Allerton

A new year brings a fresh team to Allerton!

We’re delighted to welcome Ben Jones as our new Farm Manager. Ben joins us from Dishley Farming in Loughborough, where he was Assistant Farm Manager, and we’re excited for him to bring his experience and enthusiasm to the role.

We’d also like to extend our sincere thanks to Saya Harvey, who has been serving as interim manager for the past six months. With her deep knowledge of the farm, she will continue in an advisory role to support Ben as he settles in. Saya has been a key part of our training team for a number of years and also manages her own family farm nearby. As a BASIS-qualified advisor, her expertise in agri-environment schemes has been instrumental in driving improvements on the farm.

Jobe Burnham, our Conservation Officer, oversees our Countryside Stewardship areas, hedgerow, and woodland management. He plays a crucial role in implementing agri-environment schemes, working alongside Saya and Ben to integrate Countryside Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) requirements into farm operations. At this time of year, you’ll often find him with a chainsaw in hand, laying hedges and thinning woodlands.

With an evolving crop rotation, new research trials, SFI initiatives, an ambitious capital grants scheme, and ongoing drainage work, we’re in the midst of a busy winter of planning and action. We look forward to welcoming you to the farm again soon!
