Early summer rain has created some fantastic growing conditions for our annual flowering habitats at the Allerton Project. Alongside our winter bird seed covers, we have placed a number of Green Headland and Summer Legume mixes where high winter rainfall left headland compacted and less than ideal for growing our cash crops.
Head of Farming, Phil Jarvis, commented “We are extremely grateful to Kings Crops, our partnership with them has been extremely important in establishing such fine field margins. The team at Loddington have given these covers a great start in preparing seedbeds and controlling weeds. It will achieve great results for pollinators, farmland birds and soil health.”
