The GWCT Allerton Project Launches ‘Introduction to Agriculture’ Training Course

24 Feb 2025 | Allerton, Training

The GWCT Allerton Project is pleased to announce the launch of its latest training offering, the ‘Introduction to Agriculture’ course. This program is designed to provide organisations with a foundational understanding of modern agricultural practices, tailored to meet the specific needs of various organisations.

The ‘Introduction to Agriculture’ course offers both one-day and two-day formats, each encompassing a comprehensive curriculum:

  • Overview of The Allerton Project: An introduction to the project’s mission and research initiatives.
  • Fundamentals of Agriculture: Insights into contemporary farming practices and the principles of regenerative agriculture.
  • Guided Farm Tours: On-site exploration focusing on soil health, input management, biodiversity enhancement, and water conservation strategies.
  • Interactive Discussions: Engagement sessions addressing the challenges and opportunities within the agricultural sector.

Participants are encouraged to engage in open dialogues, sharing their perspectives on farming and posing questions throughout the sessions. Each attendee will receive a resource pack and access to an online portal with supplementary materials, including the recently published ‘Farming for a Sustainable Future’ handbook.

This course is ideal for organisations seeking to deepen their understanding of agriculture, including those in the food industry, environmental sectors, and related fields. The curriculum is customisable to align with the specific objectives of participating organisations.

Since its inception, The Allerton Project has been at the forefront of research into sustainable farming methods, biodiversity enhancement, and rural landscape management. The addition of the ‘Introduction to Agriculture’ course underscores the project’s commitment to education and knowledge dissemination in the realm of sustainable agriculture.

Please note: This course is aimed at larger groups from businesses and organisations, not on an individual basis. However, depending on demand we may be able to set a date for individuals in the future so please email us to register an interest.

For more information please visit the Introduction to Agriculture page or contact the training team at allertontraining@gwct.org.uk.
